This set won't letter an entire car; rather it is specifically designed to leverage the existing lettering on the factory Rapido car where appropriate, using the decals to update the car for B-100-43-specific lettering details. Each sheet will convert 3 cars.

Espee purchased a second set of 100-ton waffle boxcars from PCF in March of 1978, the year after the B-100-40 batch arrived on the railroad. This batch of 100 cars were mostly identical to the earlier -40 cars, but they were equipped with a few different hardware elements, including Damage-Free Crossbar Loading systems as documented by the DF "Ball and Wings" logo to the left of the door. Some cars were also delivered with Keystone underframes instead of the more Espee-typical Hydracusion systems. On these cars, PCF appropriately eliminated the HYDRA-CUSHION lettering when painting the cars new at the factory in Renton, WA.

This decal set enables you to model either lettering configuration by leveraging the factory lettering on the Rapido car. Rapido did the hard work here by laying the HYDRA-CUSHION and Southern Pacific lettering over the side posts; you can remove the relevant factory lettering and replace it with lettering from this decal set to produce a new version of this car without fully repainting and decaling. This is easy to do using Micro-sol and paper-towel technique to remove the appropriate lettering. Once done, gloss-coat the car and decal as appropriate.
