This set is designed to letter one example of the Boeing Company's aircraft parts hoods (both tall and short) in their as-delivered yellow paint scheme. These hoods rode atop GN/BN/BNSF flats and still operate today. Delivered in bright yellow paint, the hoods were later repainted into a more anonymous boxcar red paint scheme with minimal lettering to help reduce incidents of vandalism in the form of bullet holes encountered as the cars traveled cross-country with their expensive cargo.
