Limited Edition Number Jumble Decal Sheet. This number jumble set is designed to renumber the Tangent Foster Farms FPFX Pullman-Standard 4750 Covered Hopper. Tangent did a beautiful job on these cars, but only released 4 road numbers in their latest run. The prototype fleet included 75 cars, numbered FPFX 8001-8076, and normally operated as a 75-car unit train when new. These trains served Foster Farms facilities in the California Central Valley that were located on both the SP and WP subsidiary Tidewater Southern, and traveled west from the UP connection at Ogden, UT, via the UP or WP depending on their destination. As such, these cars are right at home behind both SP and WP power sets in the 1980-onward timeframe. And of course, UP power took over for WP after the UP-WP-MP merger in 1983.
Those who want to model a unit train of cars need to renumber the factory cars to be accurate. This decal set allows you to create any car number from the 75-car fleet. The artwork was modeled to match the factory Tangent lettering as closely as possible, and the color was tested via several test prints to ensure a perfect match. Artwork includes the main car numbers, end numbers, and sill numbers for each roster number from the 75-car fleet. The set also includes 0-9 number blocks and extra reporting marks, should you need them.
This is a limited production set. Once they are gone, they're gone.
APPLICATION: This set supports Tangent SKU 36363-01 through 36363-04. These cars all come factory numbered, so you will need to remove the factory lettering, which is easy to do using Microscale Microsol-saturated paper towel squares placed over JUST the lettering you want to remove. Cut towel squares, soak for 15 minutes or so, and then use packing tape to "rip" the lettering off the car side. It should lift off cleanly. Spot-apply gloss coat where you want to apply the new decals (no need to do the entire car; Alclad finishes cover great and dry fast), let things dry, and you're ready to apply the new numbers. Finish with a clear coat in your preferred sheen (flat, semi-flat, etc.).
See instructions here for more on how to remove factory lettering from freight cars and locomotives.
